# Profit & Loss

> See net profit and expense breakdown for any date range

The P\&L tab combines revenue and expenses into a bottom-line view. Use it to answer "did we make money this month?" and "where does the money go?"

Navigate to **Dashboard → Finance → P\&L**.

## Summary

Three headline numbers for the selected date range:

* **Total revenue** - all money in
* **Total expenses** - all money out
* **Net profit** - revenue minus expenses (green if positive, red if negative)

## Expense breakdown

Below the summary, a bar chart shows how expenses split by category, with each category's share as a percentage. This is the fastest way to spot the categories eating into your margin.

  If one category is dominating your P\&L unexpectedly, click through to [Expenses](/finance/expenses) and filter to that category to see what's driving it.

## Exporting

Export the P\&L as a PDF or CSV for your accountant at year-end. The export respects the date range you have selected.

  The P\&L uses cash accounting - revenue is counted when the payment lands, expenses when they're paid. This matches how most Egyptian clinics track their books.
