Where to set custom instructions
Navigate to Dashboard → AI → Custom Instructions (or Dashboard → Settings → AI). There are two instruction fields:
You can fill in one or both. If a patient writes in Arabic, the Arabic instructions are active.
What to write in custom instructions
Think of custom instructions as a briefing you’d give a new receptionist on their first day — clinic-specific rules and style preferences that go beyond the obvious. Examples of useful custom instructions:Instruction best practices
Be specific
Be specific
Vague instructions like “be polite” don’t add much — the AI is already trained to be polite. Specific instructions like “always mention our free parking when a patient is deciding between branches” are far more useful.
Define what NOT to do
Define what NOT to do
The AI responds to negative instructions well. “Do not mention competitor clinics” or “do not book appointments for more than 2 weeks in advance” are practical restrictions.
Write in the same language
Write in the same language
Write Arabic instructions in Arabic and English instructions in English. The AI understands mixed-language instructions but performs best when instructions match the conversation language.
Test after every change
Test after every change
After saving new instructions, go to Dashboard → AI → Test Chat and run through a few scenarios to make sure the AI behaves as expected.
What custom instructions cannot do
- Override the AI’s core behavior (e.g., you cannot instruct it to give medical advice)
- Change the AI’s fundamental language or tone model
- Force the AI to ignore real availability data (it will always show accurate slots)
Resetting instructions
To remove your custom instructions, simply clear the text fields and save. The AI will revert to its default behavior based on your clinic profile alone.Knowledge Base
Upload documents the AI can reference when answering questions.
Test the AI
Use the test chat to verify your instructions work.
